Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  8.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Coosa and Tallapoosa River systems (in Mobile Bay drainage) in southeastern Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit rocky pools, often near riffles and vegetation (Ref. 5723); also found in small upland creeks over sandy substrates. They feed on chironomid larvae and pupae, and larger aquatic insects (Ref. 10294). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
