Max. size:  32 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 15 - 40 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 12-12
Biology:  Inhabits seaward reefs, in areas of mixed sand, rubble, and coral (Ref. 9710). Often found in areas with Halimeda algea. May be solitray or form groups. East indian reef fishes of this species are mostly young and rarely larger than 10 cm (Ref. 90102).
