Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 15-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-10; Vertebrae: 28-30
Biology:  Inhabits shallow waters of most rocky areas. Females, non-territorial males and subadults forage in shoals of sized-matched individuals. Feeds predominantly on epilithic algae (Ref. 27668).
