Environment:  demersal; freshwater; depth range 1 - 6 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 15-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-10; Vertebrae: 30-30
Biology:  Inhabits rocky shores. Usually solitary. Feeds mainly on filamentous Chlorophyta and Cyanophyta where it inhabits gentle slopes and on Cyanophyta and diatoms on steep slopes.
