Max. size:  18.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 3 - 27 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in both sheltered and exposed places (including beaches), over sand and shingle substrates (Ref. 4983). Gut contents of the specimens which were examined consisted of fish remains (Haplochromis and other cichlids) and fragments of larval insects (Ref. 558 and 6708).
