Is probably restricted to littoral and sublittoral areas. More specimens are caught over sand and shingle than over mud (Ref. 5680). The specimens which were examined either had sand grains or organic mud in the stomach and intestines together with fairly dense aggregations of mucus. Animal remains, occurring sporadically, included insects larvae, Hydracarina, copepods, ostracods and pelecypods (Ref. 558). |
