Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Central America: known only from the type locality, Río Cricamola on the Atlantic slope of western Panama.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 270-270. Color pattern composed of dark pigment bands on the anterior 2/3 of body which are mottled and blotched with numerous, small (1-2 scales wide), irregularly-formed cream-colored patches, such that the pattern of alternating pale and dark bands is highly obscured (Ref. 49716).
