Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
Max. size:  18 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 6 - 27 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Fanning Island (Line Islands). Comoro Islands to Line Islands; South to Australia (Ref. 90102).
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 126-135. Description: Characterized by pale greyish color with yellow hue on head; yellow iris; depth of body at gill opening 16-20 in TL; origin of dorsal fin above or slightly posterior to gill opening; anus well anterior to middle of body, preanal length 2.5-2.8 in TL; short and smooth teeth; three rows of maxillary teeth, innermost row largest; biserial vomerine teeth; uniserial to biserial dentary teeth (Ref. 90102).
