Oceanic and mesopelagic, found in the upper 200 m at night but deeper in the region of Subtropical Convergence (Ref. 4066). Feeds mainly on Euphausia superba; also takes copepods (Euchaeta antarctica, Rhincalanus gigas), amphipods (Primno macropa, Themisto gaudichaudii) and the euphausiid Thysanoessa macrura. |
