Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  2.8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; brackish; marine; depth range - 15 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Chagos Archipelago. Western Pacific: Ryukyu Islands to Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10. Head and body without any markings; blackish-brown when alive and in spirits (Ref. 43239); characterized further by absence of scales; complete pelvic fin frenum and basal membrane; depth of body at level of pelvic fins 2.8-3.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  A coral-commensal species (Ref. 72446). Found among Acopora coral branches, often A.millepora and A.nasuta, also with other species of Gobiodon (Ref 90102).
