Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range - 40 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Lesser Antilles, Colombia to Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 11-11
Biology:  Mainly found in brackish estuaries and adjacent areas, over sandy or muddy bottoms. Sometimes caught in marine waters. Feeds on crustaceans (Ref. 3798). Marketed fresh (Ref. 3798).
