Vertebrae: 40-40. This species is distinguished from its congeners in having the following set of characters: body elongate; lateral-line scales 42; predorsal scales 14-16; incipient proboscis with a transverse lobe; rounded large pits 15-19 on the snout; weakly developed non-fleshy central callous pad width of the crescentic anteromedian fold of the lower lip slightly wider than the width of the callous pad (Ref. 121831).
