Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 7-7. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: lateral line scales 39-40 i.e., 37 + 2(1)-3(5); one faint midlateral stripe on the body absent; anus closer to pelvic fin origin; rounded gular disc; snout broadly rounded; W- shaped band on caudal fin absent; irregular pre dorsal scales; scales well-developed on abdomen; scales between lateral line and anal fin origin (3 or 3½) (Ref. 137781).
