Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 5 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Indonesia,
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: combination of a cephalic sensory canal pore system with only SOT and paired PITO pores; 8/8 dorsal/anal fin-ray formula; thickened ends of one or more of ventralmost pectoral-fin rays suggestive of branching; absence of fifth pelvic-fin ray; red-orange body basic color with a golden-yellow head, pectoral-fin base, and caudal-fin base.
Biology:  The species is found in reef areas 3-5 meters deep.
