Distribution:  North Atlantic: Canary Basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-24; Anal soft rays: 44-44. This species is distinguished by the following characters: pectoral-fin rays 8; pelvic-fin rays 8; all fixed teeth on praemaxillare; ventral groove developed; with a unique structure of mental barbel (Ref. 129447).
