Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  6.8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: occurs only in the middle and upper Tennessee River drainage (Bear Creek in Alabama, and upstream) of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky pools and adjacent riffles of clear creeks and small fast rivers.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 December 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
