Max. size:  5.61 cm SL (male/unsexed); 5.11 cm SL (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: USA.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: possession of a unique allozyme allelic combination of isocitrate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase; modally 13 pectoral fin rays; lateral blotches on the anterior half of the body that are taller than wide; average of 49.3 lateral line scales and modally 10 dorsal fin spines (Ref. 137538).
