Occurs in ponds and ditches and can tolerate very muddy water during droughts (Ref. 4832). More common in muddy pools than in flowing water. Feeds on insect larvae, small worms and crustaceans. Spawns semi-adhesive eggs usually on floating or marginal vegetation. |
