Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  7.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: various river basins in Angola, including the Zambezi, Okavango (Ref. 120641), Cuvo, Quanza (Ref. 11970, 120641) and Bengo, as well as the Cuango and Chiumbe rivers (upper Kasai system, middle Congo River basin) (Ref. 11970). Also known from the Kasai (Ref. 41591), upper Lualaba (Ref. 2970) and Luapula (Ref. 41590) in Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-6. Colouration: A well-marked continuous black band running from snout to caudal fin base (Ref. 122753).
