Distribution:  Africa: Little Scarcies basin and in the west of Côte d'Ivoire and the east of Liberia (Ref. 2940, 81282).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Diagnosis: last simple dorsal-fin ray smooth on hind margin; scale formula 4.5/27-29/4.5; 2.5 scales between lateral line and pelvic-fin base; 12 scales around caudal peduncle; 8 branched dorsal fin rays; two pairs of long barbels; anterior barbel reaching to, or extending beyond, posterior half of eye/extending beyond hind margin of eye; posterior barbel extending beyond hind margin of eye; lateral line complete and straight, remaining in mid-lateral position also below dorsal fin; maximum reported size 114 mm SL; no black spot on dorsal fin; more or less distinct dark band along middle of sides (Ref. 2940, 81282). Description: medium-sized species; slightly rounded dorsal profile; head pointed; mouth subterminal; lateral line complete, running below dark midline of sides below dorsal fin; D: III,8; A: III,5; P: I,13-16; V: I,7 (Ref. 2940, 81282). Coloration: black longitudinal band along middle of sides, running from gill cover to base of caudal fin; scales on back brown-edged; small concentrations of pigment on 2nd and 3rd series of scales above lateral line, forming longitudinal lines on back; scales below lateral line unpigmented (Ref. 2940, 81282).
