Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea to Delagoa Bay, Mozambique.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Males golden above, with silvery mottlings and darker spots, and dark blue spots laterally; females mostly buff (Ref. 4405).
Biology:  Inhabits tide pools with seaweeds and shallow waters down to 20 m. Minimum depth reported from Ref. 397.
