Asia: known only from the type locality, a stream near Ban Nakbon, Nam Youan watershed of the Mekong basin, northern Laos. Probably in Yunnan, China (Ref. 43281). |
Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 9-10. With 4-6 dark bars anteriorly on side; dark stripe extending to end of median caudal rays; without lateral line; no barbels; no infraorbital process; usually 7 branched dorsal rays; usually 9-10 branched anal rays (Ref. 43281). |
Found in a small stream near a village in the bottom of the valley, with slow current and shallow water (maximum of 20 cm deep). The surrounding area was mostly paddy fields with almost no shade. The bottom varies from small gravel to mud. |
