Max. size:  8.02 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 57 - 81 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 27-27; Anal soft rays: 4-4. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: trunk rings 14; total rings 51 or 52; pectoral fin rays 16 or 17 usually 16; dorsal fin origin behind posterior margin of anal ring; opercle with a denticulate longitudinal ridge; opercle with two or three black lines; absence of rows of pale spots on dorsal fin; venter of anterior trunk rings without blotches, spots, or lines; and venter of anal ring without black blotch (Ref. 137735).
