Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  36 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 589 - 1870 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Gulf of Panama to Ecuador.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Anal spines: 0-0. Head uniformly and completely scaled; snout short, blunt, with stout scutes at its tip and lateral angles; chin with thick barbel. Scales adherent; body scales with spine-like spinules in parallel rows.
Biology:  A rare species found in the continental slope (Ref. 9315). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
