Max. size:  19.3 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 10 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: known only from the Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Common in shallow sand and rubble areas (Ref. 9710). Benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Feeds on bivalves, gastropods, crabs, sea urchins, heart urchins, hermit crabs, shrimps, polychaetes, amphipods, isopods, chitons and foraminiferans (Ref. 33411).
