Family:  Salmonidae (Salmonids), subfamily: Coregoninae
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 5,000.0 g; max. reported age: 13 years
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine; depth range 5 - 11 m, anadromous
Distribution:  Europe and Asia: lakes and rivers from Mezen to Kolyma River, Russia. At least one country reports adverse ecological impact after introduction.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found in fresh and estuarine waters. Lacustrine, fluvial and anadromous forms exist (Ref. 593). Adults live up to 13 years (6 in dwarf form). They feed on zooplankton (mostly crustaceans), benthic animals (especially insect larvae and mussels, also algae) and insects from surface. (Ref. 59043).
