Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Anal spines: 0-0. Eyes large; snout long and sharply pointed, its anterolateral margin incompletely supported by bone. Head ridges strong but with short, generally conical spinules; the terminal snout scute longer than wide and with blunt lateral arms; the underside of the snout naked medially. Light organ large, visible externally as a large blackish streak extending from the anus to a long black fossa on the rear half of the chest. Scales covered with fine spinules in parallel to slightly divergent rows. Color is pale light grayish-brown to tawny, blackish or densely punctate on belly and chest; the mouth cavity blackish (Ref. 1371). |
