Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 2-2. The snout is 49-50% of head length (HL), anterolateral margin of which is not completely supported by bone; scales overlap onto anteroventral snout surface. Orbit diameter 23-24% HL, extending to below posterior 1/3 of orbit. Prolonged narrow flap absent in subopercle. Light organ from isthmus to anus. Underside of head with no scales (except as noted above); including nasal fossa. Thin body scales, short spinules, fine in somewhat quincunx pattern. Dorsal fin dusky with blackish edges at the base; median nasal process blackish; mouth cream colored with blackish lips and premaxillary processes (Ref. 35909). |
