Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  34 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 33 - 335 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: endemic to New Zealand.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0. Head gently rounded, completely scaled, without strong scute-like ridges and no broad naked areas. Snout rounded, without a sharp point. Light organ lanceolate to narrowly oval, extending forward to midway between the anus and the pelvic fin insertions.
Biology:  Caught by commercial and research vessels.
