Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  37 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 85 - 582 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Zanzibar to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Australia; questionably from South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0. Snout long , sharply pointed.
Biology:  Feeds on shrimp-like crustaceans, among other items.
