Family:  Clariidae (Airbreathing catfishes)
Max. size:  26 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: lower and middle Congo River basin (Ref. 78218), but also reported from the entire Congo River basin (Ref. 3820).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits forest streams. Stomach content analysis revealed a quantity of decayed plant material as well as insect larvae (Ref. 415802, 78218).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
