This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of coloration and morphological characters: pored lateral line scales 21-25 (16-17 in the dorsoanterior series, 5-8 in the posterior peduncular series); head bright yellow, bright orange posteriorly to predorsal region; opercle, base of dorsal, caudal, anal, and pectoral fins are inky blue to indigo (blue-black when preserved); upper two-thirds of body bright aquamarine to teal in life (Ref. 126788). |
Occurs in shallow exposed rubble at depths between 5-20 m (Ref. 126788). |
