Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 12 - 40 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Izu Islands to Okinawa, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Overall color is brown; posterior edges of dorsal caudal, and anal fins lighter.
Biology:  Adults inhabit steep slopes and rocky bottoms mainly on offshore reefs (Ref. 7247). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
