Max. size:  3.4 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 20 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Indonesia (Western Papua).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal soft rays: 4-4. The species of Choeroichthys is distinguished by the following set of characters: D 16, A, 4, P 11; without keels on scutella; total body rings is 40 (15 trunk rings + 25 tail rings); subdorsal rings is 3.75; snout relatively short with its length 2.8 in head length, snout depth 2.4 in snout length, head length 7.1 in SL. Colouration: live color similar to preserved, mainly dark brown with noticeable white bars ventrally on the lower jaw and radiating from the eye; white spots and short bands along the edge of the gill opening (Ref. 123125).
Biology:  Collected at 1-3 m depth from where it occurs on steady sloping, sandy-rubble shallows (> 1 m) to about 15-20 m depth (Ref. 123125).
