Family:  Exocoetidae (Flyingfishes)
Max. size:  30 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: New Caledonia to Easter Island. One stray collected in eastern Pacific north of the Equator.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in neritic surface waters. Feeds on zooplankton and small fish.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
