Distribution:  South America: lower ParanĂ¡ River basin; Uruguay River basin; coastal drainages from Rio Grande do Sul to La Plata River.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Is distinguished by the incompleteness of its lateral line, which never has pores beyond the 11th scale of the lateral series (Ref. 27672).
Biology:  Found in lentic environment.
