Family:  Chaetodontidae (Butterflyfishes)
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 12 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Usually seen in pairs, frequently in association with plate-like heads of Acropora coral. Adults feed mainly on coral polyps. (Ref. 4858). Oviparous (Ref. 205). They form pairs during breeding (Ref. 205) and are territorial (Ref. 9710).
