Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 25 - 75 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Johnston Atoll. Strays reported from the Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 17-17; Vertebrae: 24-24
Biology:  Inhabits seaward slopes (Ref. 9710). Benthopelagic over rock, rubble and coral (Ref. 58302). Forms groups on bottoms with rubble (Ref. 9710).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 09 October 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
