Dorsal spines (total): 14-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-17; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 17-18. Description: Overall color is golden brown to orange, becoming bright orange ventrally. Some with bluish narrow band or spots along the margin of the dorsal and anal fins (Ref. 4858). Body depth 2.0-2.3 in SL. Scales longitudinal series 40-45 (Ref. 90102). |
Inhabits seaward (Ref. 9710), rocky reefs and rubble areas, especially where algal growth is extensive (Ref. 47838). Solitary or in small groups (Ref. 47838). Has been reared in captivity (Ref. 35414). |
