Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: found only along the northern shores of Lake Tanganyika, north of Nyanza Lac (Burundi) and Cape Caramba (Democratic Republic of the Congo) (Ref. 46829).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs over sand bottoms near rocks where they feed on invertebrates. Forms schools (Ref. 6770).
