Max. size:  9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 5 - 12
Distribution:  South America: ParanĂ¡ River basin, in the Paraguay River drainage, and in the middle ParanĂ¡ River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In rivers in shallow zones (Ref. 9088). Both parents defend the eggs and take the yolk-sac larvae in their mouth (Ref. 40602).
