Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Bodianinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 30 m
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: apparently restricted to the coast of India, Sri Lanka, the Maldive Is., and the Andaman Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit shallow coastal reefs and turbid lagoon reefs (Ref. 9710). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205).
