Family:  Liopropomatidae (Painted basslets), subfamily: Liopropomatinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 70 - 135 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Florida, USA and the entire Gulf of Mexico to the Guianas.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-14; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. No prominent spines on opercle; body pale red; yellow line running from snout to lower edge of eye; chest silver-white; dorsal and anal fins edged with a yellow line; caudal fin pale red with upper and lower marginal yellow lines; pectoral and pelvic fins dusky (Ref. 13608).
