Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  5.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 0 - 10 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Philippines (Ref. 11356). Record from the Persian Gulf (Ref. 80050, 68964, 115963) needs confirmation.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Body dusky, with reddish brown shades; a round blackish blotch larger than the pupil midway between pectoral and lateral line (Ref. 11356). Description: Characterized by greatest depth of body 2.4-2.7 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Solitary or in small groups. Found in dead reefs and mangrove fringe of estuaries and brackish lakes in 0-10 m (Ref 90102).
