Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  19.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 10 - 35 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia, the Arafura Sea (Ref. 9819) and northwestern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by pale reddish brown to pinkish body color; 8-9 narrow brown stripes on side; base of second dorsal and anal fins with large black spot; iris yellow; greatest depth of body 2.3-2.5 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Nocturnal species which occurs inshore, over soft bottom (Ref. 7300). Solitary (Ref 90102).
