Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Red and Brazos River drainages in Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, USA; lower Mississippi River in Louisiana (near mouth of Red River), San Jacinto, Trinity and Colorado rivers in Texas, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in sand and gravel runs of small to large rivers. Tolerates turbidity (Ref. 5723). Invertivore and piscivore (Ref. 79012). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
