Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11. Distinguished from all other barred congeners except Acrossocheilus monticola by its unique coloration pattern on the flank consisting of 8-12 vertical dark bars (vs. 5-7). Differs from A. monticola by having the following characters: a well-developed lower lip (vs. poor-developed); with or without a median interruption on lower jaw (vs. with a median interruption which wider than 1/2 mouth width); lower jaw entirely covered (vs. uncovered) by the lower lip; and body depth 22.57%-25.22% SL (vs. 25.64%-32.26% SL) (Ref. 96674). |
Inhabits rapid streams with clean, highly oxygenated water, and a boulder/pebble/gravel substrate. Coexists with other fishes which include Acrossocheilus parallens, Opsariichthys bidens, and Zacco platypus (Ref. 96674). |
