Max. size:  62 cm TL (male/unsexed); 33 cm TL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 40 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: southeastern Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found in coastal rocky areas at depths to about 40 m (Ref. 26878). Protogynous hermaphrodite (Ref. 55367). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Max. length for female species (Bernard Yau, pers. Comm., 2000).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 12 March 2008 Ref. (130435)
