Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 137 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Hawaiian Islands; Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Description: Characterized by having variable coloration; frquently reddish to mottled greyish brown; unbranched pelvic rays; illicium about as long as second dorsal spine; few slender filaments and clusters of pigmented swellings at base of esca; second dorsal spine not connected to head by membrane; opening of gill about midway between base of pectoral fin and anal fin origin; absence of caudal peduncle (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Benthic (Ref. 58302). Collected in less than 30m (Ref. 090102)
