Remarks Euryphagous predator (Ref. 58176). Adults dwell on low-relief mud fields near isolated rock, cobble or shell debris. Notable ontogenetic shift to deeper waters as they age. Co-occurs with other slope rock- and groundfishes such as Sebastes alutus, Sebastes crameri, Sebastes reedi, Sebastes zacentrus, and Sebastolobus alascanus.
